When you work with Zach, you’re not just hiring a carpenter – you’re hiring a VIBE. He’s a bonafide craftsman. He’s got meticulous attention to detail and is a supremely talented carpenter. He’s got a deep bag of skills to go along with a high degree of creativity and a big portfolio of cool stuff he’s made. But the best part is you’re not stuck working with some crochety old man who’s been in the trades (and the sun) too long. You get to work with this super chill dude who brings a positive energy to every encounter. You’ll completely forget you’re in the middle of a home project and feel like you’re hanging at the beach with friends. If you want to work with cranky old dudes who snarl at you, go ahead. But if you want to actually enjoy the process of transforming your home, Zach is your guy. He’s equal parts craftsman, artist, and overall good human. Highly, highly recommend!

Zach is a perfectionist and made our vision come to life. It was truly an enjoyable experience working with him and would give a 6 stars of it were possible.

Zach is very knowledgeable about trimming and did a fantastic job recommending solutions to a flooring and trim challenges. Zach and his team were punctual, professional, and did the highest quality work that was better than expected. My husband and I were so impressed with Zach and his team that we will use them again. I would rate them 10 stars if google allowed!

I highly recommend the Surfing Carpenter. Zach was a problem solver and found a way to get the plywood that covers my windows during hurricanes off the garage floor, and the custom bookshelf he made turned out great. He was very professional and went above and beyond to be sure I was happy with everything he built.

Zach did a wonderful job on our great room ceiling with tongue and groove boards stained and beams that he also painted. He built mock ups of the ceiling beams and made multiple samples of stain colors for us to choose from. He also built floating shelves and a desk for our office. The wood caused trouble with the stain for the desk and he took the time to sand it all down and restained it to match another desk we have. It ended up exactly like we wanted. He also put in molding in our ceiling tray in our bedroom and painted it. Everything is stunning. He was meticulous about protecting the rooms and other furniture, and cleaned up daily. Communication with him was great with very knowledgeable ideas and discussions to get everything exactly how we wanted it. Very friendly and a really nice guy to work with. Thanks again for a fantastic job!

Zach and his team are the absolute best! They worked super hard and were meticulous in everything they did. We had them install extensive trim (shiplap, batten, wainscoting, etc.) and everything turned out amazing. We had a pretty tight timeline and they worked into the evenings and weekends to get it done. I honestly can’t say enough good things. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Zach and his crew did an outstanding job removing old DIY trim throughout entryways and sliding glass doors and updating them. Each crew member can answer any questions about the project. I had an emergency come up and I had to rush out. I trusted them working in our home with no supervision. Attention to detail and pride in their work. They also clean up and no dust or debris left behind. I will def hire them again.

Absolutely the best in service, attention to detail, working in an occupied home, all care was taken to ensure protection to furniture. Upgrades to the master BR, the Den, the entry foyer (both +14 ft high) and the kitchen Island. Zach’s crew vacuumed clean every day and always stayed in communication on progress updates! Oh, and the QUALITY & workmanship! These guys can’t be beat, I’ll end as I began - absolutely the Best!!
